Cactus House Collective – How it all started
For years I’ve heard people talk about finding your passion. I saw others around me following their passion and in many cases, turning that passion into a career.
I always felt so lost because I couldn’t figure out what was MY passion. There were plenty of things that interested me and I spent time doing but I wouldn’t have said I was passionate about them. The only thing that even came close, was my love of our home.
Renovating, decorating, searching for inspiration, and of course, shopping for special items to bring into our home. I especially loved spending the time to find those one of a kind pieces that would really finish off a room or make a space pop. I can spend hours perusing thrift stores, estate sales and antique shops looking for those treasures. And yet I thought how in the world do I take this love of curating my home and translate it into a business.
Well, THIS is how…. Renov88 started (My personal renovation journey on Instagram).
It started with an Instagram page documenting our home remodel. And that led itself to passing along the pieces I had found while shopping for our home onto you.
I find furniture and decor that I know would look perfect in just the right space. I see these special pieces and know they deserve new life.
I am reusing, salvaging and saving pieces that will make your home look more curated and less cookie cutter. These are pieces I would have in my own home. They are consistent with my style and photographed in my home. It’s very much as if I’m buying these pieces for myself. (And yes, sometimes they never leave my home because I can’t bear to let them go. The only down side of this job).
This is indeed a dream job for me, someone who didn’t realize her passion for a long while and then took even longer to see it manifest. I encourage you too to find your passion even in the most unexpected place, and follow it as far as it will take you.
Thank you for visiting and you can find my available pieces on Instagram at @CactusHouseCollective!
